Cambridge Bail Circle was a voluntary organisation which provided sureties for refugees seeking release on bail from the detention centres at Oakington (near Cambridge) and Yarls Wood (near Bedford). Although in theory, nobody should be held in detention if they have not committed a crime, without sureties, many refugees languish in detention while their asylum claims grind through the system The group is now closed following the closure of the Oakington Immigration Detention Centre.
